INTRODUCTION

ARP Selected by Ataturk University for Expedition

On April 3, 2001 Ataturk University announced that Ark Research Project along with one other Christian group, Arc Imaging, have been selected to work with Ataturk University this summer in an expedition to Mt. Ararat.  The goal is to search for the remains of Noah's Ark. Over 20 teams applied for permission from Ataturk University and Ark Research Project was selected.

ARP Director, James Hall and team consultant John Bradley, met with Ataturk University President, Dr. Yassar Sütbeyaz, and the Dean, Dr. Sabahatin Tüzemen, in Florida this past February.  They discussed the planned expedition for this August.  The meeting in Florida went very well. Critical issues were discussed, good relations fostered, and agreement on most matters were reached.  During the weekend meeting, the Mayor of Ft. Lauderdale who is a Christian, gave the key to the city to the president.   The President has previously committed to interview one other team at that time before making a final decision.  You can read more in the "From the Director" section below.

     Team Member Passes Away

Fellow team member John Bradley, who was instrumental in the meeting in Turkey this past October, passed away on February 10, 2001.  The following is a brief description of John by a fellow team member, Orhan Basher.

John had repeatedly asked me to visit Yosemite since I moved to CA in 1994; but my work has not allowed me to do so. I climbed to top of Mt. Ararat first with John and Danny Bass in 1992. John carried a plastic bottle of sherry to celebrate our accomplishment on the summit for that climb. Next week, I will be doing a three day winter backpacking with snowshoes in Yosemite. I will carry a bottle of sherry with me and I will toss for John on the top of the wherever the highest hill we will climb up.

John and I had a long and strong friendship. We visited each other wherever we were since we met in 1982. This included Italy, Turkey, America, Canada, etc. John sponsored me to come to America in 1992, when he lost his son. John came to CA to visit with us for the ceremony of my family's citizenship ceremony to become American citizens, in January 2000. When we were taking oath in the big hall, he was watching us from the balcony of the same hall and crying. I have always found great deal of thinking behind every action John took, every word John said. John demonstrated unconditional friendship and support to me. I always considered him as my "American Father." One of the first things I will do when my time comes up will be looking for John.

     January 2001 Ice Climb Success

Through the fantastic leadership of Glenn Pinson and his wonderful wife, Edith, ARP team member completed a most extrodianary climb of two frozen waterfalls. It was a very fast paced trip but was packed with several incredible learning experiences.  And this trip would not have been possible without the financial backing of our team from a great sponsor in Florida.  Thank you very much.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Words of encouragement, shared interest and enthusiasm are great ways to share your thoughts with us.  However, due to the volume of email, it is nearly impossible to "personally" respond to all letters.  If you would like a response from your email, please let us know and we will try our best to do so accordingly.  Here are a few letters straight and mostly unedited from you:

->Thank you for sharing your travels to Mt. Ararat. I am too old for that sort of thing and this will have to do. I know it is up there because of Genesis and also Jesus spoke of it. There is no error in His Word. God Bless and Thanks for the Rainbows! No answer necessary. I will see you someday. G

->First of let me start by saying great site. This is a very interesting topic to me. I whole heartedly agree with the fact that if the ark is found God should be given the glory. I would like to help find the Ark if I can just 1 problem i'm only in 6 grade. I am doing a web search for info on the Ark and if I find any info that might help I'll e-mail you the URL or something. Good luck and may God let man find Noah's Ark while we're still alive. X

->My feeling is that the story is not to be taken literally, but it is, as was the custom then, a way to explain something in a way people could understand. It is the story of the decline of our environment. In fact, it is a story of our future, not something that happend in the past. We could say that it is a story put into our folklore perhaps by God himself, her or itself, long before the actual text was written. Perhaps warning us that we must take care of this planet and what can happen if we don't. E

->Your web site is great. Keep up the search as my prayers are with you. J

->Are you making money doing this? CBT

->I was truly happy when I stumbled upon your web site as I search for information on the Flood incident as my Old Testament teacher calls it.  I am currently attending New York Theological Seminary certificate program in NYC.  I am writing a paper on teaching the Flood Incident.  This information was very helpful.  thank you and God blessing in continue success. FROM THE DIRECTOR

It has been 10 years this June that the Lord gave me a burden to find Noah's Ark. I did not realize, at the time, what a mammoth project this would become. We are a now the Ark Research Project (ARP) a fully tax-exempt association and a team of dedicated Christian scientists and technicians.

My last communication with you was last November. We have made some significant progress towards initiating the project for this August. In my last communication to you, I mentioned that we had a signed preliminary agreement with Ataturk University in Turkey. They have been designated by the Turkish Government as the permit issuing authority.

The President of the university was hosted by ARP in Ft. Lauderdale, as he met with our sponsors and consultants. Out of this meeting, came a decision to select 2 teams from a group of 20-25 teams competing for permits. ARP is one of those teams selected. We thank the Lord for this honor to represent Him.

Remember our overriding purpose for our existence. It is to solely find the Ark, document its discovery as professionally and scientifically as possible. Compile a video documentary of the discovery and use it in crusade evangelism world-wide. We are hoping that this discovery will be an instrument in winning souls for our Lord.

If one reflects on this one question, why would the Lord preserve the Ark all of this time? What possible use would the Lord have in revealing it to the world? It is obvious to me that the discovery would be for evangelistic purposes. Not for men to get fame and fortune. To warn the world of His soon return ( Rapture) and the reality of His written Word (Matt. 24:37-39). This discovery would show and demonstrate to the word that there was a real Noah and a real flood. The world today originated with Noah and his descendants.

To summarize, if our permits are forthcoming and all of our funding is secured in the very near future, then we will initiate a joint expedition with Ataturk University in August of this year.

We are adding some photos to our web-site. They include our training session last summer in the Sierra Nevada Mt. range and meetings in Florida with the Turkish president.

If you would like to donate funds to our project, your support would be greatly appreciated.

"The great flood that destroyed the world except for Noah, his family, and herd would probably be dismissed as legend--if not for other ancient evidence suggesting the presence of a once-massive flood. Instead, the search for Noah's Ark continues to this day--one of the most controversial searches for one of the largest items described in the Bible. We'll examine evidence of those who claim to have found proof of the Ark, and visit Mt. Ararat and other targeted sites for the landing of the Ark. TV G"
